Attending New Era’s Summer Debate Camp during my freshman year was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions I have ever made. While I had always enjoyed argumentation and debate, it wasn’t until I joined New Era that I experienced a truly transformative learning environment. New Era went beyond technicalities and simply winning tournaments. I was exposed to a truly diverse perspective, which I appreciate to this day. New Era engraved within me critical thinking skills that lasts beyond the context of high school debating. For me, New Era means something more than a debate academy. It’s where I developed valuable connections and lifelong friendships. I never imagined that attending the Summer Debate Camp during my first year would take me on a path to competitively debate all throughout highschool. New Era opened so many doors to different opportunities; without it, I wouldn’t be where I am now. It truly is an opportunity not to be missed.
